A Golden Age Record Stand

A sculptural record stand for generous LP browsing, visual lightness, and everyday listening.

Alton is part of Groovaly’s Golden Age Designs: a family of sculptural pieces inspired by the warmth, curves, and listening culture of the 1970s.

Alton is built around Groovaly’s Tilt module, raised on removable feet to create a light, sculptural record stand. It keeps a generous LP selection visible, accessible, and easy to explore, while its upper surface can host a turntable, compact equipment, books, or selected objects.

Instead of hiding records in tight shelves or closed storage, Alton brings them into the room. A generous selection of LPs remains within sight, ready to browse whenever the moment feels right.

At the center of the piece, Tilt keeps the collection visually present without making it feel heavy. Records rest on a recessed base at the back of the module, creating the visual impression that they are lightly suspended. Press the top edge of a sleeve, and the records tilt gently forward, letting you view the cover without removing it from the furniture.

With its clean horizontal proportions, rounded Golden Age form, and elevated stance, Alton creates a calm sculptural presence: a simple, focused piece for browsing records and bringing the ritual of choosing a record into everyday living.

Crafted from Valchromat with rounded forms and a carefully finished surface, Alton carries the distinctive character of the Golden Age Designs: soft geometry, tactile materiality, and a warm sculptural presence at a compact scale.

Because life’s too short to miss a groove.

Architecture & Capacity

Alton is built around one Groovaly element:

Tilt on removable feet
Wide leaning browsing module for approximately 180 LP records, raised on removable feet. Records rest on a recessed base at the back of the module and tilt forward when pressed, making album covers easier to view without removing them from the module.

Its open upper surface can host a turntable, compact equipment, books, or selected objects.

Together, these details create a focused record stand combining generous LP browsing, display, and everyday listening use.

Material & Craft

Alton is designed in Paris and crafted in France and Portugal from Valchromat, a high-density wood-fibre material coloured throughout with organic pigments.

Unlike a simple surface finish, Valchromat carries its colour through the material itself. Its dense structure, velvety texture, and mineral matte appearance give Alton a quiet depth and a refined tactile presence.

As part of the Golden Age Designs, Alton is defined by rounded forms, sculptural volume, and carefully finished edges. Each piece combines CNC precision, careful assembly, and a varnished finish designed to protect the surface while preserving the material’s soft, matte character.

Minor variations in tone, texture, or finish may occur due to the nature of the material and small-batch production. These variations are part of the character of the piece.
